Tadoussac Bird Observatory

Research and education projects aim to assess bird population's health using scientific protocols. From its unique northern vantage point, Tadoussac Bird Observatory (TBO) is able to gather key data on more than a hundred boreal and arctic indicator species, as well as species more commonly observed in eastern North America.

Projects at Cap Tourmente NWA

Since 2014, TBO has been conducting a migration monitoring program at the Cap Tourmente National Wildlife Area, one of the most important stopover sites in Québec.

Migration counts

The very project that lead to the creation of TBO, autumn migration counts have allowed us to “take the pulse” of the boreal forest by monitoring 100+ bird species since 1993.

Launched in 1995, this research program allows TBO to act as sentinel of the boreal forest, on the most important migratory corridor along the St. Lawrence River.
