Côte-Nord Migratory Bird Festival

Created in 2009, the Côte-Nord Migratory Bird Festival was launched to showcase the rich birdlife of this beautiful region, especially during the fall migration season. Centered mainly around Tadoussac, where most research projects take place at this time of year, the event is designed for everyone, regardless of their level of birding knowledge. To help visitors discover the region’s natural treasures, a wide range of activities is offered at various sites along the St. Lawrence River.

16th edition

Preparation for the 16th edition is underway! It will take place from September 21 to 27, 2026.

A journey to discover bird migration both by day and by night. Explore the shores of the majestic Saguenay Fjord and the vast expanse of the St. Lawrence River, discover the boreal forest and its emblematic birds, and learn more about our natural heritage through over forty activities.

Don’t miss: interpretation on passerine and owl banding, lectures and documentaries, interpretation on birds of prey, quizzes and contests. New surprises await this year!

Please note that registration open on July 14, 2026.

At the heart of bird migration

Held during the fourth week of September, the Festival attracts over a thousand nature lovers and birdwatchers every year to witness this exceptional spectacle. Enjoy a spectacular sunrise at the Dunes de Tadoussac, or from one of the region’s most beautiful birdwatching sites.

We use “à la carte” system: some activities require contributions, while others are free.

Discovering our region

Can’t join us this year? We offer you the opportunity to take part in our flagship activity, “Let yourself be charmed by the nyctales” both before and after the Festival. Additionally, our professional guides are available to guide you through the region starting at the end of April!

If you visit us, don’t miss a stop at the Cap-Tourmente National Wildlife Area, where our team is present to monitor the migration. It’s a unique opportunity to discover Quebec’s avian wildlife and learn more about it.

The Cote-Nord migratory birds legacy

Come and explore an outdoor exhibition featuring 30 stunning bird photos, captured at 15 exceptional birdwatching locations in the Haute-Côte-Nord RCM. This project, highlighting our rich avian biodiversity, involved 26 professional and amateur photographers, as well as 12 local partners!

Each selected photograph is paired with informative texts about the bird species and the significance of the site. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn about some of the research conducted by TBO on these species and their conservation status.
